juniors » The Ladder » Ladder Rules
Welcome to the new ladder. This is ordered on interclub level and then top
dog points. The ladder is designed to assist the Junior convenors with
making up interclub teams, to encourage and facilitate competitive match
play between juniors and to assist the coaches in making up future coaching
squads.
It is advisable that any juniors intending to play interclub next season
join the ladder to assist the convenors in placing them at an appropriate
level.
The ladder has been drawn up based on interclub level and then topdog
rankings. Although we appreciate this does not always give a true
reflection of relative ability it is a baseline to start with. With a
junior club as large as it is at present we are having to rely more often on
the ladder order and topdog rankings for interclub team placements. The
ladder gives juniors the opportunity to prove their ability above their
current ranking.
1. The ladder will be updated on the club website. A copy of the ladder and rules will be on the club notice board and will be updated regularly.
2. If you want to make a challenge you must email Sally Marett (976 1155 or marett@clear.net.nz). She will provide you with the phone number of the person you wish to challenge.
3. Challenges can take place at any time or venue, including during Friday night club nights. There will be a maximum of six ladder challenges taking place on a Friday night. If you wish to play the challenge on a Friday night, enter the details on the Junior notice board.
4. Booking club courts outside of the Friday nights slots is the responsibility of the challenger.
5. A challenge must be played within 14 days of the challenge being made.
6. If you are unable to make a scheduled challenge as arranged you must contact Sally Marett in advance with an explanation.
7. In the event of wet weather or sickness/injury etc as per #6 above, resulting in the match needing to be postponed, both parties have 2 weeks to play the rescheduled match.
8. If a person defaults a match or refuses to accept a challenge they will be moved down the ladder below the challenger.
9. If a junior is away for more than 1 week or injured, their place can be frozen for the period they are away/injured so they will not be challenged. Please advise Sally of this when necessary.
10. For challenges played outside of the Friday night sessions the challenger must provide balls of an interclub standard - i.e. with the writing on the ball still legible.
11. A person may only challenge up to 4 places ahead on the ladder. A person may make one open challenge per term.
12. A person only has to play one challenge per week (in order that the challenge is received).
13. There must be a period of 2 weeks between the date a challenge is played and the date on which one of those persons challenges the other to a re-match.
14. A challenge is to be first to 7 games with a tiebreak (to 7) at 6 all. No advantage. Sudden death on first deuce.
15. Matches are to be self umpired without parental involvement.
16. Matches between KUTC juniors outside of the ladder challenges (eg.Tournaments and interclub matches) will not count towards our ladder.
17. Juniors not currently on the ladder will be slotted in at a position decided by the convenors and coaches and in the absence of competitive play to determine otherwise will generally start at the bottom.
Any queries should be directed to Sally Marett (976 1155 or marett@clear.net.nz).
