Parent & Child Tournament

The Parent & Child Tournament is a popular event on the Karori United calendar. The entries have been steadily increasing over the years so that in 2010 the field had to be divided into beginner, intermediate and open competitions.

In 2010, a trophy was instituted for the winners of the open section of the annual Parent & Child Tournament. The trophy is called the Mary Walker Cup in memory of Mary Walker who passed away in 2008. Mary was involved throughout the Club and the Parent & Child Cup recognises her contribution to the Junior, Senior and Midweek clubs through her role as Club Captain. The Cup was kindly donated to the Club by Mary's husband, Colin.

Our 2012 Parent & Child Tournament will be held on Monday 6th February, from 12.00pm.

To sign up for this fun event please fill out the flyerand e-mail it back to pip.becroft@xtra.co.nz or leave in the marked box in the clubrooms no later than Saturday 4 February.

2011 Parent and Child tournament

The 2011 Parent and Child tournament was held on 20 March in beautiful sunny conditions. We had 33 doubles pairs competing for the various titles and a fun afternoon was had by both juniors and parents. Every pair had at least three matches, playing under a table tennis type scoring system with 15 minutes allocated per match. The closely fought finals (played to 31 points) all went to 31 - 28 with results below.

Thanks to Philippa and Deb for running the tournament, to all the helpers for running the drinks and sausage sizzle and to all competitors for making it a fun social occasion.
